German SRT Translator
Send an .srt file, get it back in German within 24 hours — same cue count, same timestamps, nothing shifted.
Check your German .srt before you pay anyone
Drop a subtitle file below. It runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded, nothing leaves your machine. You get the cue count, the worst reading speeds, the lines that are too long for German, and a corrected .srt you can download and keep whether or not you ever buy anything.

Why German subtitles specifically
Germany is one of the largest dubbing markets in the world, which means every dubbed release also needs a German subtitle track for cinema, streaming and accessibility. German .srt demand does not fluctuate with trends.
The part most tools get wrong
German compounds run long and cannot be split at an arbitrary point. A single word like Geschwindigkeitsbeschränkung occupies an entire line on its own, and the two-line rule collapses. German also allows a lower reading speed than the Romance languages before viewers complain.
That is why this is not a one-click converter. Every file goes through machine translation first, then a manual pass on cue length, line breaks and reading speed before it reaches you.
Reading speed in German
German is comfortable at 13 characters per second rather than 15, because the average word is longer and the eye has to travel further per unit of meaning. A file translated from English at the same word count will almost always breach this limit.
German subtitle conventions most converters ignore
- Every noun is capitalised — converters that lowercase after a colon are instantly wrong.
- ß and umlauts must survive the encoding round-trip; a file saved as Latin-1 turns them into mojibake.
- Decimal comma and the thousands point are the reverse of English.
What you get back
- The same number of cues, in the same order, with the same cue numbers.
- Timestamps untouched — only the text between the timing lines is replaced.
- Line breaks re-cut for German reading speed, not inherited from English.
- A file that opens in VLC without a single warning.
That button opens your own email app. If nothing happens when you click it, just write to gwdaeoi@outlook.com and attach the file — same thing, no account, no form.
Questions
Is the checker really free?
Yes, and it does not upload your file anywhere. It parses the subtitle locally in your browser, reports what is wrong, and hands you back a corrected .srt. If that is all you needed, take the file and go.
How long does one file take?
Under 24 hours for anything up to 60 minutes of runtime. A full season is usually 3–5 days depending on how many languages you need.
Can you match an existing German subtitle style?
Yes — send one episode you already like and I will match its capitalisation, punctuation and line-break habits across the rest.
What if the timing is off?
It will not be, because timestamps are never regenerated. If a specific cue still plays wrong, tell me the cue number and it gets fixed the same day.
Do you keep my files?
No. The original and the translation are deleted 24 hours after delivery.
