Check your Portuguese .srt before you pay anyone
Drop a subtitle file below. It runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded, nothing leaves your machine. You get the cue count, the worst reading speeds, the lines that are too long for Portuguese, and a corrected .srt you can download and keep whether or not you ever buy anything.

Why Portuguese subtitles specifically
Brazilian Portuguese is one of the fastest-growing video audiences anywhere, and Brazilian viewers strongly prefer subtitles over dubbing for anything they watch online. Portuguese also covers Portugal, Angola and Mozambique with a different norm.
The part most tools get wrong
European and Brazilian Portuguese differ in vocabulary, pronoun placement and verb forms. Machine translation defaults to European, which reads as foreign and slightly stiff to a Brazilian audience — the variant has to be chosen deliberately, not inherited.
That is why this is not a one-click converter. Every file goes through machine translation first, then a manual pass on cue length, line breaks and reading speed before it reaches you.
Reading speed in Portuguese
Portuguese sits at about 15 characters per second. Brazilian Portuguese runs longer than English, so cues that were tight in the source will need tightening in the target rather than a word-for-word transfer.
Portuguese subtitle conventions most converters ignore
- “Você” versus “tu” changes by region and by register — pick one and keep it for the whole file.
- Decimal comma, and 24-hour time.
- Crase (the grave accent before a feminine article) is frequently dropped by converters and is immediately visible to a native reader.
What you get back
- The same number of cues, in the same order, with the same cue numbers.
- Timestamps untouched — only the text between the timing lines is replaced.
- Line breaks re-cut for Portuguese reading speed, not inherited from English.
- A file that opens in VLC without a single warning.

Questions
Is the checker really free?
Yes, and it does not upload your file anywhere. It parses the subtitle locally in your browser, reports what is wrong, and hands you back a corrected .srt. If that is all you needed, take the file and go.
How long does one file take?
Under 24 hours for anything up to 60 minutes of runtime. A full season is usually 3–5 days depending on how many languages you need.
Can you match an existing Portuguese subtitle style?
Yes — send one episode you already like and I will match its capitalisation, punctuation and line-break habits across the rest.
What if the timing is off?
It will not be, because timestamps are never regenerated. If a specific cue still plays wrong, tell me the cue number and it gets fixed the same day.
Do you keep my files?
No. The original and the translation are deleted 24 hours after delivery.
